Use the tutorials below for a better understanding of how to use this resource. The tutorials demonstrate the basic searching and browsing functions of the Business Searching Interface, especially when looking for company information, industry profiles, company profiles, marketing research.

Click on the Company Information tab (on the top navigation bar) to explore information on specific companies. Limit content by a number of areas, including: Company Type, Year Founded, Product, Country, Revenue, Location, and Facility Square Footage.  

Cick on the Thesaurus tab (on the top navigation bar) to quickly find synonyms for the business concepts you are researching. Synonyms are especially important when conducting your literature review. 

Cick on the More tab (on the top navigation bar) for a number of quick links that may be of use:

  • Author Profiles (including current employment, address, simple bibliography)
  • Cited References (including references to books, authors and other works that are cited in published business works)
  • Company Profiles

Special Features

On the advanced search page experiment with the following search field limits to refine and focus your search:

  • Product Name
  • NAICS/Industry Code
  • Document Type
  • Articles on Several Companies
  • Articles on Several Industries
  • Company/Entity
  • Ticker Symbol

Multimedia

  • To Access Images under the More tab, choose Image Quick View Collection
  • Under the topic of “business” you will find a collection of images, including: black and white photos, color photos, graphs, maps, charts, diagrams, illustrations.

View Harvard Business School Faculty Seminar Series videos by following these steps:

  • Click on the More tab (on the top navigation bar) .
  • Select Images/Business Videos.
  • On the search page uncheck Image Quick View Collection.
  • Make sure the Business Vidoes box is checked.
  • Search for "Harvard Business School".
  • Explore video results on topics such as leadership, branding, competition, corporate strategy, performance management, ethics

Videos contain a link to the video stream as well as a PDF transcript that may be downloaded.
