Why you need an account in the eBook databases and how to create one.

Creating an account within the eBook databases in needed to download (check out) eBook titles. Below are directions to create accounts within the two major eBook databases, ProQuest Ebook Central and EBSCO eBooks. Note that directions only apply to initial account creation.

You will need Adobe Digital Editions to download eBooks to your laptop or desktop. This free software is different from Adobe Reader.  A free Adobe ID is also required to transfer the eBook to another device. It is NOT required to read eBooks on this computer. 

For ProQuest Ebook Central, begin by clicking the link for ProQuest Ebook Central from the library database page. Then follow the steps below.

  1. Click on the "Sign-in" tab
  2. Click the "Create an account" link.
  3. Provide username and password (password minimum 5 characters).
  4. Provide basic identifying data, including first name, last name and working email address.
  5. Click the "Create New Account" tab.

For downloading EBSCO eBooks to your computer or use the EBSCO eBooks mobile app, you must create a personal My EBSCOhost folder account. Begin in by clicking the link for EBSCO eBook Collection on the library database page

  1. Click the “Sign In” link along the top of the page.
  2. Click “Create a new Account.”
  3. Enter the relevant information and remember your Username and Password.
  4. Use your new Username and Password to log in to My EBSCOhost.
