About the Authors

The authors have 86 years of combined leadership experience in a variety of educational settings and levels.  Both have worked as teachers, K-12 school administrators, professors and administrators at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and as consultants.  Both are trained facilitators for Franklin Covey including The 7-Habits of Highly Effective People. Their philosophy is to actively engage learners in meaningful and practical ways. They founded RE-LEAD to to Re-Source emerging leaders with tools and activities for their journey,

  • to Re-New the commitment of experienced leaders to organizational effectiveness, and
  • to Re-Store organizational focus on values and goals,
  • for the purpose of Re-Igniting commitment and passion

 Ruth Y. Cox is Professor of Education at Trevecca Nazarene University.  She earned an Ed.D. in educational leadership from Nova University. Within her areas of expertise, she established and led an independent K-12 school, worked as a local school and district level administrator in a large public school district, served as professor and Director of Teacher Education for a university, held numerous organizational leadership positions, and actively worked as a community volunteer.  She was nominated for the Eve Award which recognizes women for their efforts and accomplishments in the areas of education, volunteer service and employment. 

 Esther C. Swink is an independent educational consultant.  She earned an Ed.D. in administrative leadership from Vanderbilt University.  She directed school libraries and the work of several departments in a large public school system and served as professor and Dean of the School of Education in a private university. She has been an active volunteer and leader in numerous community organizations. She was nominated for the prestigious Nashville Athena Award that honors business and professional women for their career successes, service to community and encouragement of women seeking to inspire others to achieve excellence in their professional and personal lives.
