Creating persistent links for streaming videos from Films on Demand

FOD Persistent Link

Steps to locate the Films on Demand (FOD) persistent link. 

Option 1: Embed/Link 

  1. First find the video or segment you want to share
  2. Click on Share under the video window
  3. Choose Embed/Link
  4. Copy the Link 
  5. Paste it in to syllabi or online course assignments for users to access
  6. Click on the image to make it larger.

Note: if users are prompted for a login have them call the Library at 615.248.1570 for assistance. 

Option 2: The Citation

  1. Under the video window click on 'Cite'' 
  2. Choose the citation style you need'
  3. Paste the citation into a syllabus or Blackboard assignment. Both allows users to access the vide from the URL. 

 

Using the PlayList feature-Perfect for PowerPoints

Using the Playlist feature enables you to embed a FOD link into a PowerPoint. This is where you'll find the link to embed a film into a PowerPoint.Create a custom playlist to share specific videos and clips with others on campus. You can also create playlists and then link to them in Blackboard. Start by viewing the short video overview of the Playlist feature.


Steps to creating your own FOD Playlist:

In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, click on "Sign in" or, if you haven't created a personal account yet, click on "Create Account."

Search Films on Demand to find a film that you want to use.

Linking the full film:

  • Click on the +Playlist link that appears at the bottom of the film description to add it to a playlist.
  • You'll be prompted to name the playlist. This is not the film title but the topic of the playlist.You can have more than one film within a playlist.
  • Each playlist will have a unique, stable url that you can share with others. 

Linking specific segments from a film:

  • Click the title of the film to open it.
  • Under the film viewing window click the +Playlist link.
  • Now you can choose which segments or all segments to add to a new playlist.
  • Students will see the list of segments required for viewing when opening the link.
  • The Playlist will have a unique URL you can link to within PowerPoint.

You can view all of your playlists by clicking on the "Playlist" menu at the top of the screen after log in.
