Looking for Journal Articles?

Waggoner Library has thousands of journals, newspapers, and streaming video on all subjects; most are full text, accessible through our databases; others we have in print, and a few are bound copies. Typically, when searching for journal information, you would search using Discovery or in databases by subject or journal-title. Use the tabs below to get started and direct you to the related information!

Multidisciplinary databases search over several databases for all kinds of topics or subjects.

They are a good place to start if you're unsure of your topic.

Discovery Searching: Articles

Use Discovery search from the library homepage to search for journal articles across databases. It is a good place to begin research. Use the library databases for deeper and more scholarly content. View the video tutorial below and learn more!

Searching by SUBJECT

  • Begin with the A-Z Databases Link
  • You can select a general database or browse a subject list of databases
  • A list of databases can be viewed by title or by subject area

Databases in the field

Review the descriptions and choose the most relevant database (or two or three!) for your research needs.

If you know the JOURNAL TITLE
  • Click Advanced Search on the library homepage
  • Enter the journal title in the search box.
  • Scroll down, click Limit your search
  • Select Journal/magazine under the format list
  • Select Trevecca Nazarene University from the Library list
  • If the library has full-text access to a database, you'll see an Access Journal button on the result list.
  • Follow that link to either browse journal issues or drill down by year of publication and issue number to discover the full-text article.
If you have the ARTICLE TITLE and citation
  • Mouse over the top left menu on the library homepage and hold on Find Information
  • Move the mouse down and select the link to E-Journals by Title.
  • Select the Search tab.
  • Then click on the Articles button to search by article title.
  • Complete the required information. (Article title and Journal/Publication title are all you need).
  • Finally, click search.
  • You will find links to database results if we have the full text for the article. Be sure you check date ranges, as many databases must deal with publisher embargoes of up to a year or more.
  • If no full text is indicated, scroll down to select the Request Item Through Interlibrary Loan button. Complete the information on the form to receive a PDF reprint. There is no cost.
