Information Literacy & Library Instruction at Waggoner Library

Our goal is to equip students with the ability to find, select, and evaluate appropriate information resources to ensure their academic success at Trevecca Nazarene University and beyond. Information Literacy provides students with the ability to evaluate information critically, use it ethically, and become lifelong learners.

We partner with faculty to achieve this goal by offering Library Instruction at Waggoner Library.

Research skills and information literacy are not skills students develop overnight.

It takes time and practice to learn:

  • what resources are available
  • how to find and evaluate information
  • citation methods
  • critical thinking skills necessary to consider the ethical, political, and social implications of information for personal and academic use

and so much more.

If we want our students at Trevecca to become competent researchers, as well as individuals that use their education for leadership and service, we must provide them with the opportunity to build these skills. This is especially important because students come to Trevecca with a wide range of experience with libraries, research, and searching.
