Discovery Searching and Journal Articles 

Waggoner Library has thousands of journals on all subjects, most are accessible through our databases, others we have in print and a few are bound. Typically when searching for journal information you would follow one of the paths below:


Searching a TOPIC

  • Use Discovery Search

    • Enter your topic into the Discovery search box on the library homepage.

    • Click the 'Articles' icon and then the green search button.

    • Results will need to be narrowed down by Trevecca's library; peer-reviewed; date range or other factors in order to see a list of relevant articles.

  • Get more specific using the A-Z Databases Link
    • We have over 190 databases. This page lets you choose individual databases from a title list or by subject area.
    • Not all databases are included in Discovery Search results.

Searching for JOURNAL TITLES by SUBJECT

  • Mouse over Find Information on the top menu bar on the library homepage
  • Click E-journals by subject and begin browsing

If you know the JOURNAL TITLE or the ARTICLE TITLE

  • Mouse over Find Information on the top menu bar on the library homepage

  • Click the link to E-Journals by Title (links to Browzine)

  • Click Search and then enter your journal title into the search box

  • Choose the Journals tab to search by journal title.

  • Choose the Article tab to search by article title

  • Complete the required information and search

Specific Psychology Databases

Learn more about PsycARTICLES

PsycARTICLES is one of the premier psychology-related databases, you will use it often.  It is hosted by APA making it quite authoritative. Learn more by viewing the video below. 

What if there is NO Full-Text available for the journal article you need? 

1. Use the A-Z Journal Title search

  • Identifies if the library has the journal and provides a database and link to access the full text.
  • Select Search' and then enter the journal-title into the related box. Then search to see if the library has the title in another database. Always check the date ranges for the holdings. 

2. Search using the article title in Google Scholar

3. A Journal Article request can be made through the Interlibrary Loan link on the library homepage

  • Use this option if you cannot find the full text from the library
  • Simply complete the form, submit it, there is no cost for this service! 
  • The reprint will come as a PDF by email within 5 working days.
