Do you need one-on-one assistance with your research?

All Waggoner librarians serve as research coaches to assist with the challenges students often face while doing research.

Waggoner librarians can help you with a variety of needs including:

• Determining the best places to look for resources
• Using resources effectively
• Searching in library databases
• Evaluating different source types
• Accurately citing your sources
• Using RefWorks
• ...and much more!

What do Meet with a Librarian sessions look like?

Each session is unique, but typically we will begin by asking you to tell us about your assignment and what you hope to accomplish through this session. Then, we can walk you through search strategies, troubleshoot issues with RefWorks, assist with your research question, or answer any other library or research related questions you have. If we don't know the answer, we can find someone who will! Sessions are scheduled in 30 minute blocks, but can be extended as needed.

But this is only a liberal arts or introductory level class! Will you still help me?

Absolutely! Research is research, and we can help with all needs, big or small.

How does Meet with a Librarian differ from walking in/calling the research desk?

While we do our best to help all students, whether they walk in or contact us another way, scheduling an appointment allows us to prepare in advance and to clear our schedules to focus on you. Please note that most research help is provided virtually at this time, but in person assistance can be requested too. Contact us with questions. 

Please note that we are unable to revise papers or provide tutoring services, but Academic Services can assist you with these matters.

How can I get assistance with my research?

May I come to the library to meet with a librarian?

Most research assistance is virtual at this time.

Will I get a confirmation email after making an appointment?

Yes! You'll receive an email confirmation immediately, and a personal email from a Waggoner librarian soon letting you know who will be meeting with you and details about:

• Video conference: the Teams/Zoom meeting link and details for use
• Telephone session: exchanging of telephone numbers, though we typically will call you

If our librarians are not available at a time that is convenient for you, please contact us. We will do our best to find a time that meets your needs.
