Room Use in the Library

Dunn Conference Room
The Dunn Conference Room may be scheduled for use by University personnel and other approved groups. Scheduling the room must be done through the Outlook Conference Room scheduling process. The conference room is kept locked when not in use. A key must be checked out (using your TNU ID card or driver's license) at the Library Services Desk on the main floor to unlock the room.

When food is brought into the room, special care should be taken to avoid spillage.  Before leaving the room, users will assure that the table and counter space are free of moisture and debris, the lights are turned off, and both doors are locked. The key should then be returned to the Library Services Desk on the main floor.

Library Instruction Room
The Library Instruction Room (LIR) may be scheduled for use by University personnel and other approved groups who need a computer lab setting. There are no longer desktop computers in the LIR but library laptops are available to be checked out at the Library Services Desk.  Scheduling the room must be done through the online Event Calendar.

Because the Library Instruction Room is primarily intended for library orientations and research instruction sessions, the library has priority in scheduling the LIR, and reserves the right to change the schedule if needed in order to accommodate orientations and library instruction. Every effort will be made to schedule library events as early as possible so that other groups will not be bumped after they have reserved the LIR.

Group Study Rooms
Waggoner Library has 14 rooms designated for group study (11 on the second floor, 3 on the main level). Users are expected to leave the rooms in good order and to report any housekeeping or maintenance needs to the Library Services Desk on the main floor.

Study rooms are unlocked and can be reserved in advance. Click here to make a reservation. Any personal items left in the group study rooms will be moved to the Library Services Desk on the main floor and held there until the owners retrieve them.

Doctoral Study Rooms

Doctoral study rooms are reservable. Simply click here to reserve a room by day and time. When you arrive at the library go to the Library Services Desk, show the student worker your reservation confirmation email, and check out a key for the reserved room. You'll need your TNU ID or driver's license for checkout. Don't forget to return the key when done.

Because these rooms are available only short-term, personal and library materials may not be left in the study rooms after the key has been returned to the services desk. View the video below to see how to reserve a doctoral study room.

Videos/Filming in the Library

Patrons are expected to seek permission from the library director to shoot videos in the public spaces of the library building or to create videos in group study rooms that involve equipment beyond that of an individual cell phone/computer or necessitate changes to the study room set up. Requests will be considered based on how disruptive the video will be to those studying and whether the video shoot has the potential to damage library furnishings or equipment. Video requests will only be approved during the hours the library is open except in rare cases, and those creating videos will be required to clean up after themselves and return library furnishings, equipment, and materials to their original locations.

Rotunda
The library is intended for student study and research. Events taking place in the Rotunda can be heard throughout the upper two levels of the library because of the open floor plan. For that reason, it is unlikely that requests for the following times will be approved:

  • Sunday through Thursday evenings, especially during the spring and fall semesters
  • After the first third of the semester
  • During the two weeks before major research projects are due (providing that library personnel are aware of the projects and due dates)
  • When, in the opinion of library personnel, the event will prove to be too disruptive for student work.

The library can be scheduled for events after the building is closed (Friday and Saturday nights), provided that library personnel can be present or the Library Director is assured that after the event, the library space will be returned to its original configuration (including cleaning and disposing of any food or trash, replacing furniture in its usual location) and the building will be locked securely.

Kitchen
The kitchen is intended for use by library employees and their guests, and other building employees upon approval. Everyone is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the lounge. Because of security concerns, the hallway to the lounge is locked. Access is available with a key.
