eBooks as Textbooks
eBooks may be used as a course textbook or supplemental reading text. The following are tips to aid in the effective use of Trevecca eBook collections.
eReader Devices
A laptop, iPad or tablet, smartphone, Kindle, Nook, even a desktop computer is an eReader device.
Download (like a checkout)
Download a temporary PDF text of the book to an eReader device. It is checked out (downloaded is their term) for a period of 7 to 14 days. At the end of this time, the book will no longer be viewable in other words, it is automatically checked in.
Number of titles for use
Unlimited Use means there are endless digital copies of the book that multiple users can download. Downloading a book with this level of use will not prohibit the access of the book to anyone.
Limited Use means there are fewer than five copies of the book for users to download. If it is required for a class a download can prohibit others in the class to use the book. If you don't see 'unlimited use' you need to assume the title has LIMITED use.
One copy means there is only one digital copy available. Never download a required text for class if you see it is the only copy.
Chapter Downloads
Print and Copy Allowances
The typical print allowance for most titles is 40% of the book. When printing a chapter or range of pages, eBook collections deduct from this allowance.
Most eBook collections provide a daily refresh allowing users to get the content they need and return for more.
Baker Books, InterVarsity Press, and Beacon Hill Books of Kansas City are now part of EBSCO eBooks!
These 125 eBooks include commentaries, Bible dictionaries, and works on counseling and spiritual formation. You can find them in the Waggoner Library catalog entering a keyword search for CLC collection.
